Hunting knife for Herman

I made this knife for my Brother.  He is an unbelievably accurate shot and I wanted him to have a knife I made when he goes hunting.

I will also publish a video on my youtube channel, so if you are interested, please go and have a look there.  Just search Youtube for Thipa New Zealand.

As always, I started with O1 Toolsteel

The blade in 3mm thick full flat grind, full tang, with a English Walnut handle.  The Handle shape is "Coke Bottle Shape" to provide additional stability in the hand whe working in the field.

The pins are 3.2mm brass pins.  It seems as if the brass contains a high concentration of Zinc because they polish up more silver than the yellow colour of copper.

This is probably my most successful etch to date.  The Stencil was professionally cut from a vinyl sticker.  It helped that the edges were nice and crisp during the etching process.

  1. Very nice indeed. Your brother is a lucky guy!! My brother put a new handle on an old knife for me after he reworked the blade,I still have it. I lost my brother in 1976. So I'm Very happy to have it to remember him by.
