Sarcastically I used to joke that I let the steel guide me as to what the shape of the knife will be.... This is probably because frequently when I start a knife, it just does not end the way that I had in mind!
This was absolutely the case with this knife.
There is a gentleman in the USA who wants a large hunting knife with Antler scales and a nice sharp pointed blade, that is study enough to be used in the bush.
I initially I made a blade that was probably too much of a bushcrafting blade shape. I then attempted to change the shape to better suit hunting, but unfortunately I made an enormous mistake and consequently the blade was ruined! The only way of salvaging the blade was to turn it into a Bird and Trout Knife.
Anyway, the resulting knife was a lot smaller than the original planned knife.
Made of O1 toolsteel.
New Zealand King Country Red Deer Antler as handle scales fastened with brass pins.
Nice, small and easy to use when doing fine work in the field.
That is a very nice knife, like the handle very much! You do good work sir. Looking forward to seeing what you have made for me!!
